Malaysia - July 2005

I guess I should thank Marie - once again, she got me out of the UK and travelling to far and distant lands to visit her. This time - in July 2005 - it was Malaysia that was calling. A remote part of the country at that! I flew to Kuala Lumpur via Dubai (see Patronus Towers below) and then took another internal flight to Kota Bharu and then a taxi to Kuala Besut and finally a boat to the Perhenthian Islands. Was it worth it? Hell yes!A more beautiful place it is hard to imagine - the very definition of a tropical paradise.

There is not much to do there except soak up the rays and scuba dive, so I took the opportunity to do the latter. I learnt with my instructor Toby (pictured below) and got my open water qualification. I spent the rest of my two-week holiday diving with Marie during the day and eating and drinking in the evenings - bliss!

We saw some wonderful underwater wildlife, with the highlight for me being the turtle that came to say hello!
